What could happen in a session?

  • Improvising: playing music together to express emotions and highlight relationship dynamics that can then be safely integrated

  • Creating: writing songs, creating playlists, coming up with rhythms or musical phrases, or games, to process and make sense of experiences

  • Listening: Music listening can be used to soothe a person's stress responses (relaxation), engage positive affect (joy) and open exploration and conversation about different experiences
